Pali, Oahu

The pali road was built alongside old trails used by Hawaiians. In a few of these photos, you can see the transition from it being crossed by foot in the mid-19th century, to when the road was being created next to the trails.

Ancient Hawaiian Fishponds

These photos were taken on Oahu between the years of 1878 (McKeague Mill at the foot of Lilipuna Road in East Oahu) to the 1950s (where you see some fishponds in Kaneohe being filled in) to 1977 (a photo of a fishpond being taken over by mangrove). The area is Kaneohe Bay and Heeia.
